Winemaker Matt Murphy is descended from Cork grandparents on both sides, but has made a reputation for himself Down Under, working with wife Amy, daughter of estate founder John Buchanan, to maintain the very highest standards in each successive vintage.
New Zealand's specialist Cuisine magazine celebrated "a winery that always delivers excellent value, Mount Riley’s 2012...a charmingly fresh, precise expression. Grassiness and herb flavours such as dill harmonise with peach and citrus" and suggested this lively, lipsmacking wine as a perfect accompaniment to smoked eel.
It would make a great partner for any smoked fish or seafood dish – and of course it's deliciously refreshing on its own.
