Further Details

This Merlot-rich blend with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon is made from grapes harvested by hand at optimum ripeness. Fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks is followed by eighteen months' traditional aging in French oak, with bottling two years after the grapes have been picked.

The 2010 vintage has been compared in excellence to the outstanding 1982.

Clear ruby colour and intense aromas of red- and blackcurrants and raspberries lead to an opulent, harmonious mouthful with hints of spice, oak and earth, entirely ready to drink—though with another ten years' aging potential at least.

At this price for a 2010, it's an absolute bargain from the estate owned by Dubliner Derek Egan and partner Kathleen, whose hard work in restoring their purchase and in attention to detail in both vines and winery has paid off in the impressive quality of their wines.
